The phrase 'a great game for a neutral' is surely now completely redundant – few neutrals will spend over £20 for entry to a Scottish game. And the Motherwell fans in attendance would definitely have preferred Ross Forbes to score the penalty and see out a quiet 1-0 victory which would have given us two more vital points. But the end of the first third is an excellent time to reflect on the campaign so far and we can be very pleased.

"Kevin is still laid low with a virus after one or two of the Rangers players were affected after their European game. The doctor looked at him this morning and he is still not 100 per cent. We were hoping to take him with us but unfortunately he is still laid low. Steven Whittaker has a hamstring injury and will not be available either.
